A pleasant village from the Gard, close to Avignon and the duché d'Uzés, Saze counts a beautiful castle amongst it monuments. Located in the heart of the village, this castle was rebuilt during the 16th and 18th centuries on medieval remains, encompassing the choir of the ancient 12th century parish church. It is after the Wars of Religion of 1560 that the De Thezan family integrated what remained of the church into the new construction.
A wine-growing village surrounded by vines, the village is famed for its peaceful way of life and the warmth of its population. It hosts many celebrities (the actor Daniel Auteuil was born here), and the village is lucky enough to feature one of the rare existent women stonecarvers.
